July 14th will live in our memories as one of the best days of 2019 I’m sure….fish were plentiful, the river was calm, and the much needed rain gently watered the gardens and lawn so we didn’t have to. This was the first rain in about 6 weeks and should help the forest fires across Alaska (150 of them) get a little under control. The fish seemed to like the rain as well. I hooked one that did some of the most acrobatic moves I’ve ever seen for a sockeye…even jumping over a log floating downriver!  But, it was Mama’s catch here that made us all the happiest, and with the smile on her face I guess it made her happy too. Beautiful fish, beautiful Mama. One lucky guy I am to have a girl that fishes like that, eh?!!
