The 2nd run of Kenai Sockeye (aka the “Late Run”) proved to be a bit later than usual this season, but eventually we hit the target range of escapement of 1 million + sockeye salmon. The end of July and first week of August turned out to be the most abundant time, and by that point the sockeye started mixing with a stellar 1st run of silver salmon and pink salmon, so the multi species fishing was awesome, the best in 20 years in my opinion. The good thing about the run timing was that the commercial fishery was closed and that allowed a lot of early silver salmon into the river and those first few days of August turned out to be incredible silver fishing in the lower river as a bonus to the sockeye.

Here are some pics of the sockeye salmon success our family & guests enjoyed in late July/early August 2018!
