Without much time to chase after that skinny run of green backs bound for the Russian River that pass by our shore earlier in June, I set my sights on catching the first Sockeye of the season from the second run here at Kenai Riverfront Resort…and indeed success was at hand on the June 26th, a solid 4 or 5 days ahead of our typical July 1st kickoff! A nice chrome red salmon is now in the smokehouse or on the plate as Coconut Salmon. Bring it on summertime in Alaska!
