New to Alaska, new to fishing, and far from home, this friendly family came to embrace the Alaska Dream on the Kenai River….and they learned that dreams do come true! In the first 30 minutes of fishing their young 9 year old son hooked a nice “keeper class” pan-fry rainbow and was all smiles even standing in the rain! In the next 30 minutes though something truly amazing happened when the father’s pole took off like a salmon was on the line! The fish was jumping like crazy and running fast upstream with the father holding on all smiles as well….and we quickly realized it was a TROPHY class Kenai River Rainbow Trout! What a treat for this enthusiastic family fishing Alaska for the very first time! In the net, hook out gently, we helped the fish calm down, snapped a photo and released this beautiful beast back into the raining river….raining Rainbows that is, Alaska Dream style!
Raining Rainbows!

Our family of six has been living the Alaska Dream on the world famous Kenai River for the past 15+ years, enjoying the bounty of the land & sea in everything we do! All of our children were born in Alaska, and both of us have lived here for 30+ years. We love sharing the Alaska Dream with visitors from around the corner and around the world and we especially love to help families and children catch their 1st salmon, halibut or rainbow trout and learn how to care for it all the way through the process of cooking it in delicious gourmet Alaska fashion. Enjoy reading our Alaska Fishing Report, Cooking Alaska Fish & Game, Alaska Photo of the Week and other sections of our website The Alaska Dream and we hope to have the chance to help you experience YOUR Alaska Dream someday too!
