After a cup of coffee I decided to check the fishery, and the ole’ Kenai River lived up to it’s reputation this morning for sure! I started bumping salmon quickly and it wasn’t long before I had the first one in the net and headed up to motivate the crew out into the rain. We all fished for the morning and my daughter did a fine job of netting a couple for me to bring back memories of years of sharing in this tradition of harvesting from the bounty of the Kenai River. Salmon dinner tonight hit the spot again and with a little sunshine in the forecast, along with a whole lot of salmon headed our way, it looks to be smooth salmon sailing ahead. That’s 10 salmon so far for my effort this season, with many more to come. 9 of them on the same Salmon Stryker fly tied by my sons.
