Following up on some father-son success a few days ago with son CJ, twin brother TJ joined me in some Sunday morning success as we each took two sockeye salmon before noon! As I’ve come to learn over the past 16 years with things that come in two’s, rinse & repeat is often the case with identical twins. And whether it’s taking turns being first, being tallest, being fastest, or being simply amazing, these guys never fail me! A day or two ago it was CJ fighting a sea monster of a King Salmon that was only lost to the river because of a newbie boater’s carelessness in sweeping his line, and today it was TJ landing sockeye salmon effortlessly on his very own hand-tied Salmon Stryker flies like he was born with a fishing pole and fly tying vice in his hands…in fact, and this is no fishing story, before I could finish writing this fishing report TJ came in to announce that he hit his limit with his 3rd Sockeye–first limit of the year for him! Like my wife, I’m so thankful to have these two fishing buddies, but I’m even more thankful that they have each other — for fishing and for life.
P.S. A short while later I landed my 3rd fish, hitting my limit in early July….safe to say, the Reds are in, brace yourself Soldotna and the Kenai River!!!
