What an amazing 4th of July. A full camp for the first time since the recession started in 2008, beautiful 70 degree sunshine weather, a magical light snowfall of cottonwood “blowin’ like the 4th of July” and incredible friends to celebrate with, dine with, and enjoy it all with together. We did slip a little work into the day, even recruited some young laborers to help dig for gold, and everyone fished and fished until 3 or 4 Sockeye Salmon were landed, cleaned and cooked. But the most amazing catch of all was the “Quick Fish” my best friend Eric caught right after our dinner of slow-smoked hickory baby back ribs, Coop’s fried chicken strips, Mama’s BBQ beans, Alaska potato skins, and corn on the cob!  We left the dining deck together, I stopped to visit with a guest from the North Pole, and by the time I approached the shore, Eric was coming up the steps with a nice fresh Sockeye buck that TJ had just put in the net for him–shown in this beautiful family of photo of Eric, his wife Toni and their almost one year old gem, Mia. It couldn’t have take more than 2 minutes of fishing for Eric to catch that salmon, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect ending to a perfect weekend. Watch for the 360 video of the days festivities, including an epic water balloon fight, volleyball, and of course fishing fishing fishing to be released on our YouTube channel soon!
