Summertime in Alaska….fishin’ everyday. That’s been the story around here now for a good number of days, and though chores do sometimes get in the way, we’ve managed to squeeze a little bit of fishing into most everyday. It paid off yesterday for Taylor when he caught the first red off our bank for the season, it paid off for our guest family from Chattanooga, Tennessee when they caught a nice Red Salmon for dinner this afternoon, and it paid off for me big league when I caught my first limit of the season this evening–3 beautiful, fresh from the ocean Sockeye, all direct hits to the mouth with TJ & CJ’s Salmon Stryker flies!  The first catch was the best because it was a double hookup with my fishing partner for life, Cindy, a rare chance for us to fight sockeye salmon side by side, but the 2nd one was special too because I shared it with three year old Emmi from Tennessee, as she held the pole and I helped reel and maneuver it to the net. She was all smiles as we shared a slimy high five! Looks like fresh salmon for the smoker, fresh cajun blackened redfish, and fresh coconut salmon will be the menu for the next several days. As I mentioned to our new friends from Tennessee, this IS my 401K plan–an investment where money isn’t the most important pay back!
