After days of chalky, muddy water due to high temps and snow-melt as well as some heavy rain that caused a rather anticlimactic opening to King Salmon fishing with the recent emergency order allowing retention of early run Chinook on the Kenai River, our guest and new friend Kevin Jaenke, learned that persistence pays off when fishing early run salmon on the Kenai River! He fished with determination, along with friends and family all visiting from Missouri & Illinois, in hopes that he’d catch his 1st salmon. Thanks to some good luck, surely brought to him by his wife Michelle, he scored this beautiful Kenai River Sockeye on one of TJ’s custom tied “Kenai Kriller” flies this afternoon! The bonus was that Kevin fed the whole group of 8 traveling together with this ONE fish AND Michelle will get a nice hand-made bikini from the salmon skins 🙂 !”
Persistence Pays Off!
