“…we decided to take the camper out for a shake-down trip just after the Memorial Day holiday to avoid the crowded highway, and we fished a lake we hadn’t tried for several years. Kelly Lake, near Peterson and Watson lakes off the Sterling Highway south of Cooper Landing, made for a nice free camping spot right on the lake side for easy kayaking and fishing. I caught this mini-Rainbow on our Swiss friends tried & true “Egg Surfing” technique. Size doesn’t matter nearly as much as technical success–at least that’s what I told myself after taking this “usie” with mini-me, not as easy to do as you float on a lake in a kayak if you like to capture the mountain background and keep the horizon level! Looks bigger upside down don’t you think?!”
